Film Studies Faculty Position
Film Studies: Covenant College seeks a faculty member in the department of Theatre and Film Studies who will anchor a developing cross-disciplinary Film Studies program which seeks to draw on course work from several departments including film production, criticism and media arts.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a vision for teaching in a collaborative, liberal arts setting from a Reformed world and life view, as well as an affinity with the Theatre and Film Department’s current philosophy of preparing students to be both fine artists as well as “missionaries” to the theatre and film culture (www.covenant.edu/tf provides some elaboration on this idea). We are particularly interested in candidates who possess both working experience in the film or media arts industry and a firm grasp of theoretical and historical approaches to film as both an applied and fine art.
Teaching appointment will begin on July 1, 2012 and candidate must have a Masters degree or higher in hand by August 15, 2012. Candidates possessing a terminal degree (MFA/doctorate) are preferred. Salary commensurate with experience/rank.
Send curriculum vitae, film reel in digital format, and reel of student work (if available), and/or other portfolio of artistic or critical work as appropriate to the candidate’s expertise, names and phone numbers of 3 references, a testimony of Christian faith and experience, a critical response to Westminster Standards (located on the Web at www.pcanet.org/general/cof_contents.htm) and a philosophy of Christian Higher Education to:
