Welcome to the 2013 NACFLA Conference
Covenant College is hosting the 2013 North American Christian Foreign Language Association (NACFLA) Conference, taking place March 21-23. This year’s theme is “Constructing Identity: Faith and World Languages.”
NACFLA seeks to provide a forum for the promotion of Christian reflection and practice in the field of world language education, to strengthen the contribution of Christian scholarship in this field to the larger academic world, and to provide Christian world language educators a community and network for support and encouragement.
The conference will begin Thursday, March 21, with a plenary session featuring speaker Dr. Kathleen Nielson. Friday and Saturday will begin with worship, followed by multiple learning opportunities with breakout sessions. Friday evening we will enjoy dinner and performances by Covenant College musicians, and the conference will conclude with lunch and a business meeting Saturday afternoon.
Covenant College is located on Lookout Mountain, just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is accessible via the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. You may also choose to fly into Atlanta or Nashville and take a shuttle to the Chattanooga airport. We will provide transportation from there to your hotel.
On Saturday afternoon, we will offer stops at Rock City and Point Park, both located on Lookout Mountain, as we transport you to your hotel. These famous attractions both provide breathtaking views of the valley.
Another option for Saturday evening is the Southern Belle, a riverboat which cruises down the Tennessee River, offering beautiful views of Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. Contact Sarrie Pasch at Sales2@ChattanoogaRiverboat.com for information about a special group discount.
