Professional Memberships

In addition to teaching, I am an active performer at Covenant College and as a guest artist with regional performing groups, including the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, the Chattanooga Bach Choir, and Choral Arts of Chattanooga. I was honored to receive the individual artist fellowship for voice from the Tennessee Arts Commission for 2012, and I plan to use these funds to expand my performing career throughout the region and nation. I am passionate about performing opera; some of my favorite roles include Charlotte from Werther, Meg from Little Women, Cherubino from The Marriage of Figaro, and the mother from Amahl and the Night Visitors. I have also performed works by a wide variety of composers in recitals, including Bach, Barber, Berlioz, Bizet, Debussy, Respighi, and Schumann. While working on my doctor of musical arts, my teacher introduced me to the Alexander Technique, and I have continued studying that and using it in my teaching. I am grateful for how it helps me to guide my students on their journey of growth and discovery as singers and artists.

Personal Interests

Though I do not have much free time between performing and teaching, I enjoy hiking and being on the water in the area around Lookout Mountain. I am active in the young adult ministries at St. Paul’s Episcopal in downtown Chattanooga, where I am also a member of the choir. My other activities include reading, movies, Sudoku, and making my own jewelry.
