2011 Young Alumna of the Year: Christy Norwood ’03

Christy Norwood

Christy was Covenant’s first urban community development major. Today she is a community organizer for Focused Community Strategies Ministries, the community development wing of Charis Community Housing. Some days she can be found walking around the streets of South Atlanta checking on vacancies, code enforcement issues, and resources. She also recruits new neighbors to live in South Atlanta and then unites these new residents with the old.

Noon at Covenant is a time to see the campus in full swing, with students learning to live and think in a way that centers on Christ, and that aims to serve God's kingdom. As we Scots continue our work to explore and express the preeminence of Christ in all things, we are called to represent the College, sharing its mission with others.

Matthew Trexler ’11 shares the story of his struggle with same-sex attraction and the joy of finding his identity in Christ.
