In The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Bertolt Brecht's twist on a classic Chinese fable, the audience is confronted with a satiric comedy of justice, war, and love. The death of the governor of a fictional town in the Caucasus sets the plot rolling as Grusha, the kitchen maid, escapes with the abandoned child, heir of the governor. The play follows the story of Grusha as she sacrifices everything to raise the child. A sub-plot follows Azdak, a wise fool who becomes a judge. When the child's mother, the late governor's wife, comes before Azdak to claim her right to the child, he is faced with a Solomon-like predicament.

Covenant College Professor Claire Slavovsky directs.  The music is composed by Covenant student Justin Johns for his Senior Integration Paper

The cast of The Caucasian Chalk Circle includes Laura Childers (singer), Justin Johns (chorus), Autumn Brown (Grusha), B. Mitchell (Azdak), Janel Corbett (governor's wife), and Kevin Hartzell (Simon).
