Debate Society Performs Well in Competition

Covenant College Debate Society

The Covenant College Debate Society once again placed well in the Communicator Classic tournament at Patrick Henry College January 22-23, 2010.

With twenty-five teams, including those from Grove City College, Regent University, and Duquesne University, and fifty individuals competing, Covenant's six competitors fared very well.

Luke Granholm '11 and Sarah Swygard '13 placed 3rd overall, and Susanna Griffith '13 and Zach Robbins '12 placed 9th overall.

In individual competition, Sarah Swygard '13 earned the 7th place speaker award, while the 9th place speaker award went to Susanna Griffith '13 and 10th place to Zach Robbins '12.

"As Christians, we have the most beautiful message," says Zach Robbins '12, president of the two-year-old Debate Society. "We should be able to communicate it the most beautifully. Without the education and practice necessary to prepare for that, we're leaving our culture behind."
