Drama Association Presents Mainstream and Other One Acts
The Covenant College Drama Association concludes its 2007-08 performance season with a production of three one-act plays, written by Covenant College students and faculty.
Mainstream and Other One Acts is directed by Amy Knutson (Mainstream), Stephanie K. White (Charcoal), and Adam Carter (Blue Ribbon). This is one of the first productions by the Drama Association that has been written, directed, acted, and produced by Covenant students and faculty. Each director has had the unique opportunity to work with the playwright to edit and revise the plays.
The one acts are a blend of comedy and drama. The settings range from the 4-H booths of a county fair (Blue Ribbon) to Perry, Georgia (Charcoal) to an upscale art gallery (Mainstream) and focus on themes of love, relationships, trust, and ethics.
The title one act, Mainstream, is about Amy (played by Kate Sarafolean ’10), a young widow still dealing with the ramifications of her husband’s death. She must make a difficult decision when confronted with a morally questionable situation at the art gallery where she is assistant curator, all the while surrounded by different pressures from her family and friends to “grow up.”
Mainstream and Other One Acts will be performed at Covenant College’s Sanderson Hall auditorium. Showtimes are April 10, 12, and 18 at 8:00 p.m. and April 19 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door and are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
