Covenant's Orchestra Conductor Honored by National Opera Association

Lok Kim Lok Kim, orchestra conductor and visiting instructor of music at Covenant, was awarded first and second prize in opera production at the 2010 convention of the National Opera Association. Kim conducted two operas in his last year of graduate school: La Verbena de la Paloma, which placed second, and Naomi in the Living Room, which placed first.

In the two years Kim has been at Covenant, the chamber orchestra has developed significantly, with talented new students recruited from across the country. "Students applaud his presence with enthusiasm," says music professor Jeanell Brown. "He has inspired a new striving for excellence within the orchestra."

Kim will conduct again this fall, when Covenant College's Department of Music presents the Covenant chamber orchestra, performing works by Verdi and Dvorak on November 18.
