Brock Hall Rooms Named in Honor of Profs. Barker & Voskuil
The faculty lounge and conference room in Brock Hall have been named in honor of two retired faculty members who made extraordinary contributions through their service to Covenant College.
Dr. Nick Barker, an English professor, served as the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty for 25 years--and in education for a total of 46 years. He was recipient of the Sanderson Award for Christian Scholarship during his tenure at Covenant.
Dr. Lou Voskuil, who served in education for a total of 41 years, taught history and led the faculty of Covenant College. He, too, was a recipient of the Sanderson Award for Christian Scholarship during his tenure at Covenant.
A reception was held on October 27, 2008, to dedicate the Nick Barker Faculty Lounge and the Lou Voskuil Conference Room. In expressing appreciation for the colleagues with whom he served, Dr. Voskuil said that someday he may sneak into the room and write their names on the wall too.
The rooms have become informally known as the Barker Lounge and the Lou. More pictures from the reception are available on Covenant's Facebook page.
