Covenant's Music Department Ushers in Christmas Season with Two Concerts
On December 3, 2010, Covenant's music department will present "a Renaissance Evening," featuring the Madrigal Singers and Renaissance Consort. Directed by David Long, the program takes Renaissance and traditional music from the renowned Madrigal Dinners and presents it in concert style. The musicians will perform in full Renaissance costume, using vocals, flutes, harp, harpsichord and strings to transport the audience back to the simple celebrations of Christmas.
On December 9, the Covenant Chorale will present its annual Christmas concert of traditional carols, under the direction of associate professor of music Ken W. Anderson. Each year the chorale helps us bring in the season of Christmas. A reception will follow this performance.
Says professor of music Jeanell Brown: "These concerts are presented as the music department's Christmas gift to students, faculty, staff, and the Chattanooga community."
Both shows begin at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel and are free and open to the public.
