EDUCATION CAREER SUMMIT 2008
News :: Home

Covenant College's Education Department is pleased to announce Career Summit 2008, to be held February 28-29 (Thursday evening and Friday) at Covenant College. Our goal is to acquaint school administrators with our junior and senior teacher education students, as well as provide a time of refreshment for busy administrators.

As a special bonus, the annual Educators Conference is linked to Career Summit. The Educators Conference is to be held from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, and will focus on Five Ways Technology is Transforming Teaching. Our featured guest for the conference is Dr. Peggy Roblyer, a national leader of integrating technology across the curriculum. Make plans now to enjoy a day of professional development! Career Summit will begin that evening at 7:00 p.m. and will continue through the next day.

The education department requires junior and senior teacher education students to participate in Career Summit so this event promises to be beneficial for both school personnel and our students. The Directory of Teacher Education Graduates 2008 provides a brief sketch on each graduate. Administrators are advised to look over this list in order to determine whether or not the students who will be graduating this year might be good matches for openings they anticipate in their schools.

The schedule for Career Summit includes a time of introductions, informal mingling, and light refreshments on Thursday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. This session will include both junior and senior teacher education students. The Friday interview sessions will be with the seniors only and will be in a group format, i.e. each group will consist of several students and several administrators, moderated by a faculty member of the Covenant College education department.

Due to limited space and time, we are planning on one registrant per school. (If a school has elementary, middle and/or high school divisions, more than one may attend.) Upon receipt of the registration form and registration fee, we will send a confirmation by e-mail. If it is imperative that you bring along someone else from your school, or if you have other questions, please call or e-mail Jane Stewart, Administrative Assistant, Education Department, at 706.419.1407 or jstewart@covenant.edu.

Also due to space limitations, it is not possible for administrators to bring displays. Instead, we suggest that you bring materials about your school to distribute to our students, or that you send our students materials about your school via e-mail or post.

Register early!

Please note that registration forms for Career Summit must be submitted by February 15, 2008. However, since registration is limited for this event, it is advisable to register early. Cost is $35.00, nonrefundable, and is due with registration. The registration fee includes a lunch on Friday.

The Educators Conference registration fee is $75 and the registration deadline is also February 15 for this event. The registration fee includes lunch on Thursday and discounted pricing on Dr. Roblyer’s books through Covenant’s bookstore.
