Residence Hall and Floor (for 2011-2012):
Carter, Second South
Favorite place on campus:
Why did you choose Covenant?
Covenant was where I knew I would be challenged academically and in basketball, but also where my relationship with Christ would be refined and strengthened. Coach Taylor and Dr. Quatro had a big influence on me choosing Covenant through their love for students and devotion to Christ.
How is Covenant unique?
The atmosphere at Covenant is unique in that it allows students to grow in their walk with Christ while challenging them rigorously in academics. Also, the freedom that is allowed for students encourages brothers and sisters in Christ to hold each other accountable and truly live as the church of Christ.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
My greatest experience at Covenant thus far would have to be the opening basketball “blue-out” game this season. Seeing all the support and excitement the students shared in that night was truly a blessing and a depiction of the fellowship on campus.
Why do you love basketball at Covenant?
I love basketball at Covenant because being a part of our team surrounds me with guys who work hard and love the game of basketball, alongside having a relationship and common bond in Jesus Christ.
How have Coach Taylor and Dr. Quatro influenced you?
Coach Taylor has influenced me through pushing me physically on the basketball court, but also to be a more passionate man of God. He has taught me to care about my teammates around me and what the bond of unity in Christ is about while being on a team. Dr. Quatro has displayed an awesome passion for the students he teaches. This reflects in my desire to work hard in his class.
What is your favorite class, and why?
“Greek I” is my favorite class this semester because it is taught by Dr. Scott Jones. He displays an awesome knowledge for the subject material, yet is down to earth and very engaging with his students. Plus, learning the original language of the Bible is a pretty incredible opportunity.
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
My RA, Jared LeFebre, has had the greatest impact on me thus far. “Fabre,” as his hall-mates know him by, has encouraged me in my transition into Covenant College with both schoolwork and athletics. His willingness to just listen and mentor is an attribute that has truly blessed me.
What's your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
When I wake up and see the sun rising over the Lookout. Witnessing God’s glory at the beginning of the day invigorates me to passionately live out my relationship with Christ.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I desire to pursue graduate work at either Duke or Harvard Divinity School and either pursue a career in politics or as a pastor.
Why a politician or a pastor?
I believe God has given me gifts in teaching and leading and these careers would enable me to lead others in a way that magnifies Christ. Also, I have a passion for the people of the United States and I would love to serve Jesus through reaching those who have no fire for Him in this country. I want to see the people of America serving God and loving one another. Being a politician or pastor, I feel, will enable me to be a voice and influence for that cause.
How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
The academics at Covenant stretch me to become the most equipped student I can be in the disciplines I am studying. Also, the growth I experience with my hall mates and friends on campus have encouraged pushed me in holiness and love for Christ.
