Favorite place on campus
The Crater, an area just outside of the chapel, is great! There are typically at least a couple of hammocks hung up in the trees and you can almost always find some friends sitting on a blanket reveling in the day. The Crater is a really good place to simultaneously enjoy Covenant’s community and God’s creation.

Why did you choose Covenant?
Originally, I wasn’t planning on attending Covenant College, but I was encouraged by my parents to apply. After staying on Second Central over Scholarship Weekend and seeing the number of great people living on campus I decided the College was the place in which I wanted grow and develop as a student, person, and believer.

How is Covenant unique?
The community of Covenant sets the school apart. I know that is an unoriginal answer, but it is not an overused one. The College consists of over a thousand students, all with different kinds of backgrounds, passions, and futures. But we are united by a common faith. The diversity of the student body makes Covenant an interesting and edifying place to live and grow.

What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
Mountain Affair was a blast! All of Second Central performed a song together, and we had a lot of fun figuring out random instruments that we could play. I rocked out on the microwave. It was great seeing all of the talent that our campus has scattered around campus. There were so many different genres of music represented and each performance was interesting.

What is your favorite class?
Introduction to History taught by Dr. Jay Green opened my eyes to a whole new way of thinking. As a history major, I gained an even larger amount of respect for the discipline of historical thinking and those who pursue it. Dr. Green commits himself to his subject and to his students. The result is a mind-blowing class that keeps you engaged and interested for the whole semester.

What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you?
Tough question. I have had so many people constantly pouring their wisdom and lives into mine this past year. It’s difficult to choose one. Honestly, there are so many people I could put down as an answer for this question. One friendship I have been blessed by is the one I have with Ben Baldwin. His insight and spiritual maturity have been a major source of encouragement for me this year. Ben has a genuine love for people and for God’s truth.

What's your favorite part of the day?
The one to two hours before my hallmates and I go to bed are the best. We talk about the day or laugh about stupid things we’ve done. That hour is a great way to unwind and to hang out with guys you love.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I’m not sure at this point. I’m interested in both law and education.

How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
I’m at Covenant to get an education; however, most of my day is not spent in the classroom. I am being prepared for my career, but more importantly I am being prepared for life. Every day I am here I learn more about myself. The administration of the College really encourages and assists the student body in pursuing our identity as uniquely equipped persons in the broader context of a community of believers. The school has helped me identify both my talents and my weaknesses.
