Activities
At Covenant, I participate in the Business Club and am a member of the elite “The Crew” volleyball intramural team. I also enjoy running, reading, slaloming, snorkeling, hiking, and exploring Chattanooga. Basically, I like to be adventurous and make the most of the time I have.

Favorite place on campus
I really enjoy the trails and the Dottie Brock Gardens. It’s fun just to be outside and enjoy the weather, especially in Spring and Fall.

Why did you choose Covenant?
I chose Covenant after spending a weekend here with my sister Laurel, who was a student at the time. I was a junior in high school and she knew I was leaning towards Auburn. Laurel and her friends didn’t tell me this, but that weekend they made it their goal to convince me to come here. Let’s just say, it worked!

How is Covenant unique?
Covenant strives for excellence in both academics and Christ-centeredness. The integration is shown not only through learning, but also in the community, especially with the hall life. When speaking to my friends at other colleges, I have found that Covenant’s residence life staff is not the norm. Most of my friends at other schools do not have personal relationships with their RAs or their RDs. I also love that I can feel completely safe walking around campus at night and I have no problem leaving my dorm room unlocked.

What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
Oh this is a hard one! There are so many to choose from; soccer games, Carter Prayer and Praise, '80s Skate Night, and Jazz on the Overlook have all been memorable. However, if I had to pick one event, I would probably say Kilter this past year. Kilter’s great because it’s a dance where the girls ask the guys, and yet there is no pressure because everyone goes. This past year it was in the children’s museum downtown and the theme was “Kiddo Kilter.” I went with a group that dressed up like the Duggar Family from “19 Kids and Counting.” We had a blast! There were fourteen of us who all got pretty into it. We got some strange looks from people downtown, but it was worth it!

What is your favorite class, and why?
My favorite class so far was Principles of Microeconomics with Dr. Wescher. I took it my first semester at Covenant, so it was a kind of a wake-up call for me. It was a very challenging course, but he made me interested in pursuing Economics as a minor.

What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
Professor Dodson, because not only has he allowed me to see my potential, but he has shown me all the technical aspects of business as well. In addition, while he keeps his classes challenging, Professor Dodson likes to keep a light atmosphere, which results in no two classes being the same.

What’s your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
Dinner in the Great Hall, because it’s a time where everyone gathers together and you can sit back and relax for a bit before a long night ahead in the library.

What are your post-graduation plans?
Well, I still have two years and my plans change daily. Today, graduate school seems like a good idea. I fluctuate between starting a business with my cousin, becoming a meteorologist for the Weather Channel, and becoming a certified public accountant. We’ll see where God leads me!

How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
Covenant is equipping me for the future by challenging me in my academics, so that I can be prepared to handle whatever career I end up pursuing. More importantly though, Covenant challenges me spiritually. Professors, friends, and chapel speakers continually remind me that I am a sinner in need of God’s grace.
