Why did you choose Covenant?
I honestly didn't. I was praying about transferring from a college I had been attending for two years and the name just popped up out of nowhere. I had not really heard about it but when I went to talk with my parents about it they had already been praying about me attending Covenant. It was pretty incredible.
How is Covenant unique?
Covenant is the polar opposite of the college I attended before I transferred. It was hard for me at first. I did not know many people but the desire within the students to be creative as they were designed to be invited me in with a warmth I had not experienced anywhere else. I have learned more about the specific identity God has given me at this college more than I have anywhere else.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
The all-nighters I pulled with other girls on my hall, not because we had to study, but because we chased the night away with our conversation.
What is your favorite class?
Coming from a public college that presented history without an eternal purpose, literature without the model of sacrificial love, art without an infinite Creator, and biology without a God-shaped void, all of my classes have been incredible for me. I have felt comfortable in all my classes to write in my own style, saturated with the Truth. I have learned about different religions and different ideologies but with a foundation deeply rooted in the Word that guides us with the truth as we struggled with the sinfulness of man and its consequences.
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you?
Emily Ford - she encouraged me as I struggled with a new atmosphere and not knowing many people. She continues to encourage me as I learn more and more about the identity I have as a child of God and the many roles I have been given because of it.
What's your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
Nighttime
What are your post-graduation plans?
Immediate: I taught English in China for three months the summer before I came here; I would love to go back for a year or two and teach again. Distant: Get my master's in business and open a bakery as part of the downtown restoration of a city.
How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
It is teaching me how to think and believe with a God-centered focus and Christ-like character. The people I am surrounded by at Covenant show me how to serve and to love those in the church and those outside of it with a love that is sacrificial and God-honoring.
