Why did you choose Covenant?
I chose to come here because I had seen the impact of Covenant on the lives of several people in my life, and I wanted to go to school at a college that teaches you how to think and not just what to think. The Chalmers Center and the community development program were also very integral to my decision to study at Covenant. I also got the opportunity to visit Covenant for both Campus Preview Weekend and scholarship weekend, and that helped me to feel like this was the place where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life.

What do you like about Covenant?
I love that there is an abundance of really cool people here. Everywhere else I go I have to look hard to find fun, interesting, and godly people, but here they're everywhere. I also like that Covenant is absolutely beautiful. It’s on top of a mountain, and there are actually four distinct seasons here! Another thing I really appreciate about Covenant is the emphasis it places on really engaging culture. It is so common to see Christians separating themselves from popular culture, but at Covenant they really encourage you to think about how we can engage our culture without becoming like it, remaining faithful to our Creator and to his plans for our lives.

What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
That’s a good question. I'd have to say that my favorite experience was going backpacking with a group of guys from my hall. It was a beautiful trek, and we had a really solid time of fellowship out in the midst of beautiful creation.

What is your favorite class, and why?
My favorite class at Covenant most definitely was CDV 210 Theory of Community Development. This is hands down the best class I have ever had because it brought so many new things to my mind and it really made me conscious of our biblical duty as Christians to care for the poor. The teachers do a great job of facilitating discussion and looking to various resources to build a good foundation for what holistic development is all about and why it needs to be done.

What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
I'd have to go with my old RA Vroeg, because he really helped me to see the value of prayer and because he has been a really great encourager and friend to me over the past year.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I hope to do master’s-level study somewhere overseas in international development and eventually work in Africa doing development of some sort.

How do you think Covenant is preparing you for the future?
Covenant has contributed a lot to the way I view my faith and my responsibility as a Christian. I feel like I will be much more able to defend my faith as well as understand the things I believe and how they relate to every aspect of creation that I am experiencing and will experience in the future.
