Honors received at Covenant:
Why did you choose Covenant?
I chose Covenant mainly because all of my four older siblings graduated from Covenant and loved all of their time here. I wanted to experience what they experienced.
How is Covenant unique?
Covenant is unique to me in that it has an ability to foster relationships unlike any other place. It is difficult to describe just how amazing the relationships I have made at Covenant are. There is truly something special about the people and atmosphere at the College. I also believe Covenant to be unique in its faculty. Hearing my business, economics, and French professors all discuss theology and relate it to their courses is an experience I believe to be unrivaled at any other college or university.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
My favorite experience at Covenant has been to invest in the lives of friends on my hall, and having them invest their lives in me. I used to think before leaving for college that I would never be able to find friends that are as good as the friends I made while growing up, but Covenant has an ability to attract some amazing people, and it has definitely been a privilege and great experience for me to build relationships with the people around me.
What is your favorite class, and why?
For the current semester, my favorite class is “Strategic Management” with Dr. Scott Quatro, because it is a class that brings together concepts from many previous classes and uses them to perform a high-level analysis of businesses. It is a discussion-based course that offers plenty of interaction between me, my classmates, and Dr. Quatro. Out of all the courses I have taken at Covenant, my favorite is “Industrial Organization” with Dr. Lance Wescher. The course presented fascinating material and gave me and my classmates the opportunity to research individual industries of our choosing, which I found to be a very valuable and interesting project. Much of the material in the course overlapped with my business courses, yet the approach to the concepts was slightly different, due to it being an economics course.
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
I don’t think I can narrow who has had the greatest impact on me to just one person. My close friends and roommates have all had a deep impact on my life in all regards in the last four years, and I have changed and matured significantly as a result of their influence on my life.
What's your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
My favorite part of the day at Covenant is at night after all classes are completed for the day and homework is done. Instead of focusing on school I can relax and focus on my relationships on campus. Relationships and hall life (especially on Ghetto) is an amazing feature of Covenant. I am very blessed to have been placed in a group of such amazing people.
What are your post-graduation plans?
My post-graduation plan is to complete an auditing internship with Ernst & Young in the McLean, Virginia office, and then hopefully continue to work as a full time accountant for Ernst & Young while seeking to complete the requirements for the CPA license.
How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
Covenant is doing many things to prepare and equip me for the future. From a vocational point of view, the business department at Covenant is outstanding, providing immensely useful knowledge and training in the field of business in general and, specifically, accounting for me. I believe that learning about management, ethics, finance, and accounting from a Christian perspective will allow me to approach my life in business in a way that is truly and utterly different from those around me. From a spiritual point of view, all of the departments at Covenant, not just the biblical studies department, have done an outstanding job of equipping me for my life as a Christian. Learning about course content from a Christian perspective, taking time out of many classes to pray, being given assignments to connect faith and content, and the examples set by professors have had a deeply important impact on my faith and have equipped me well for the future.
