Student Profile: Sam Kawecki '18
Residence Hall and Floor
Carter Hall, 5th South
Favorite place on campus
My hall, because I love the community there and it provides a nice environment for me and my friends to feel at home.
Why did you choose Covenant?
I chose Covenant because I knew a few people that had gone here a few years before I came and also some of my parents’ friends. They told me about the community that Covenant had and that was the biggest draw for me. Knowing that I was going to be at a school where I am not a number, but a valued friend and student to many.
Did you visit Covenant as a high school student? If so, how did that visit impact your decision to attend Covenant?
I only visited on Scholarship Weekend and I loved the campus and the student body. However I had already made my decision to come to Covenant, so it was reassuring to find that I liked it.
How is Covenant unique?
Covenant is unique for a number of reasons; however, there are two reasons that stand out the most. First, because it is a Christian college up on the top of the mountain, with amazing views; and secondly, because of its amazing sense of community and fellowship.
Describe Covenant in three words.
Community, beautiful, unique
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
My favorite experience here at Covenant has been helping lead orientation for the new students. Doing this required me and a bunch of others to get to school early for training, and it gave me and some friends a week to just hangout and have fun without the stresses of class.
What is your favorite class so far?
My favorite class so far has been Principles of Sociology with Dr. Eames. This has been my favorite class because it taught me a lot about very practical principles that occur in everyday life; concerning why we act the way we do in each setting.
What makes hall life at Covenant unique?
Hall life is unique because you get put onto a hall not knowing what you are getting into. Each hall has a different personality that unifies the hall. Along with this, each hall has and RA and DC that are set there to aid the students in both their practical and spiritual lives at Covenant.
What are some things you enjoy about your major?
I really enjoy getting to learn about the structure and function of society and why people do the things that they do.
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
Maddie Hulting is the most influential person at Covenant because she constantly encourages me to work as hard as I can and to constantly be the best person I can be.
How is Covenant preparing you for life after graduation?
Covenant is teaching me how to work at a professional level and is providing me with resources to help me find a job after I graduate.
How is Covenant equipping you for active membership in the church?
Covenant does a great job emphasizing how important it is to be part of a church, how going to a Christian college does not take the place of the church. It also teaches us about the church’s doctrines and how we as members of the church ought to interact with them.
