Why did you choose Covenant?
My mom and dad strongly urged me to go to Covenant College. Covenant has always been a family school for me. Both of my older brothers, David and Eric were Maclellan Scholars. I struggled with the decision of whether to come, since there was a part of me that wanted to chart new territory. But I felt a strong calling from God to come to Covenant. It was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made in my life. My life could have gone down two very different roads, and I am so thankful that I chose the path of Covenant College. I tell people all the time I would now honestly choose Covenant over any college in America. I think very highly of the school. I have never been around people as loving, as Christ-like, and as accepting as I have found here at Covenant. Plus the academics here can be compared to Ivy-League schools.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
I love hiking
the trails surrounding Covenant by myself or with some of my close
friends. My favorite experience actually took place on the Maclellan
Scholarship trip our class took to Europe in the summer of 2009. Not only did
our group minister to people far from God, but we had the time of our lives
traveling Europe together.
What is your favorite class?
Introduction to History (History 150), taught by Dr. Jay Green. Even if you are not interested in history, this is a must-take class. In an intellectually powerful way Green will challenge most of your normal assumptions about life. It will change you. It really challenged my worldview and how I view reality and life. God only knows how influential the lessons I learned in this class will be in the days to come.
What teacher has influenced your life the most?
Dr. Jay Green. His teachings and beliefs have dramatically influenced how I see the world.
What's your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
Hanging out at midnight on the Catacombs with my close friend and roommate Jonathan Digioia. I would eat Ramen Noodles and he would eat Fiber One Sticks.
What are your post-graduation plans?
For those who know me, most of my conversations revolve around starting and building up local churches and the lobbying/political world of Washington, D.C. I plan on going to seminary and becoming a pastor. I would love to continue to be involved in the lobbying scene of Washington, D.C.
How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
In more ways than I can even count. Yes, I am receiving a fantastic education. Yes, I have friends that will hopefully last a lifetime. Yes, because of connections at Covenant, internships and jobs have come, but there is so much more to Covenant. Being at Covenant College has been teaching me a lot about how great a savior I have in Jesus, and how desperately I have to rely on his love. That is perhaps the greatest lesson that is equipping me for my future.
