Student Profile: Adrienne Siegenthaler '15
Residence Hall and Floor
Carter, 5th South
Acting in musicals and plays, reading lots of poetry, drinking espresso, and rollerblading any time of day or night.
Favorite place on campus
I love the second floor lobby in Mills at night. I spent so much time there my first semester of freshman year working on papers and listening to an endless stream of Bon Iver. Something about the high ceiling that makes everything echo and the huge windows looking out on the west always gets me in a contemplative mood. My best writing always happens there.
Honors received at Covenant
Why did you choose Covenant?
I looked into Covenant because my parents both went here and from day one had been pushing for me to go. They brought me up for preview weekend my junior year of high school and the second I stepped onto Carter Lawn I knew that this was where I was meant to be. Covenant felt like home.
How is Covenant unique?
Covenant is a place full of people who are passionately and intentionally seeking to glorify God. There are so many differences from person to person, which makes for a diverse and fascinating campus, but we all share a foundational belief and purpose, which makes us a unified campus as well.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
At a student-led prayer and praise in the chapel we sang my favorite hymn: For All the Saints. Feeling the powerful presence of God is indescribable.
What is your favorite class, and why?
I loved “Intro to Theatre” with Professor Hallstrom. She challenged me to think in ways I never had before. I learned how to critique and understand art from a Christian perspective. There is so little material for Christians interested in theatre, so Hallstrom’s writing, thoughts, and insights are some of the best out there. I gained so much practical knowledge from that class, but I was also moved on a daily basis by the beauty of the art I was studying. I remember while studying a particular play, Hallstrom said that the play’s message is that there is a value beyond price for every moment of our existence. That message has stayed with me. At Covenant, that is a message that is taught in countless ways every day.
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
It’s impossible to choose just one, but my R.A. Emily McKeon has been such a gift to me. Her understanding, tender heart, and quick humor make her such a joy to be around.
What’s your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
I love the night! The beauty of the city lights spread out beneath the mountain catches me off guard every time.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I know I want to go on to get my masters in English literature and my certification to teach. From there I have no clue!
How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
Covenant is teaching me how to make Christ preeminent in every area of my life. There is nothing more valuable than that.
