Channels of Love. Getting involved in a ministry outside of Covenant has been one of the best things I have done since coming to Covenant. I attend a Bible study twice a week with people who are not like me, don't struggle with struggles I have, but each time I see the body of Christ more beautifully than I ever have.
Favorite place on campus
The mailroom is an abnormal favorite place, I know, but I love going to the mailroom after chapel and before lunch when everyone heads down. You run into most of the people on campus and if you're lucky you get mail!
What do you like about Covenant?
I love the community. I love that everywhere you go you are surrounded by that community, in class, on my hall (Imani, fourth floor of Andreas Hall), with Student Senate, even just walking to and from buildings. I love that my professors care about me and not just how I am doing in their class, but how I am doing emotionally and spiritually as well. I love that I have the opportunity to worship as a community three times a week in chapel.
What is your favorite class?
My favorite class has been Theory of Community Development. It was a very difficult class, but it challenged me to think about how I view development and poverty. I was posed with questions I had never considered and walked away with a worldview that was different than the one I entered class with.
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you?
I met Amanda Morris on Student Senate my freshman year. She went out of her way to make sure that I felt connected and showed me the ropes. She taught me what Senate is and why it is important, but she really impacted my life by being my friend. She empowered me and encouraged me to go as far as I have in leadership here at Covenant.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I am interested in urban ministry and plan on applying to participate in Teach For America.
How do you think Covenant is preparing you for the future?
In all my classes I am challenged to consider Christ's preeminence in relation to the subject matter and because of that I will leave Covenant with a firm understanding of who I am and what I believe. That is preparation for any vocation.
