Why did you choose Covenant?
I would say that Covenant chose me. With plans to leave for Vanderbilt the very next morning, I was to help a friend move in to Covenant and then go and pack my own things to be taken to Nashville. On Covenant's campus just for the afternoon, the nag at my soul for spiritual fellowship (which I hadn't experienced at Vanderbilt my first year) pounded louder and louder. The verse in Matthew 16:26 which states, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world yet forfeits his soul?" kept replaying over and over again in my mind as I walked the aged halls of Carter. But still I had grand reasons to return to Vanderbilt. I can indeed liken it to one of those David and Goliath kinds of battles, where God took a pebble and hit me square in the head with it. Somewhere between seven and eight o'clock that night, God changed my heart, because all at once I felt very sure that Covenant College was where I was supposed to spend the remainder of my undergraduate years. And so, here I am to worship...
What is your favorite class?
My favorite class is Human Anatomy and Physiology. Dr. Wenger does an amazing job of helping us experience the human body as the sheer miracle that it is and nothing less. In his class, this miracle comes alive as you walk with God's design for His most beloved creation.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
My favorite experience here at Covenant was praying with a new friend and waking up the next morning with sore knees to remind me of just how truly beautiful an experience it was.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I love the idea of being able to witness "new life"-- the very miracle of birth I feel is like meeting God's future face-to-face from the beginning and getting the chance to hold it in your arms and welcoming it into the world. My plans include graduate school at Vanderbilt University (MSN in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or pursuit of a dual degree in Family Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwifery) and then possible graduate school at Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia for a career as a CRNA in OB.
How do you think Covenant is preparing you for the future?
Covenant is overflowing with rich teaching, teaching that makes the move from the knees in prayer, to ones' feet in service, a more fluid one.
