Culture Fest 2015
The Covenant community celebrated its ninth annual Culture Fest on January 23, 2015.
Culture Fest is an opportunity to spend time intentionally celebrating the grand diversity of God’s creation. The event is open to members of the Lookout Mountain and greater Chattanooga communities, offering students the chance to interact with people who live nearby. The evening often includes various ethnic, linguistic, and cultural styles of singing, dancing, and dress, and concludes with a feast of international foods.
This year, the event featured a wide variety of performances, including a German song; Indonesian, K-pop, and African dances; a gospel choir; a fashion show; and an African choir.
“For me personally, my view of God’s kingdom has been broadened as I have had the opportunity to be a part of Culture Fest,” said Julie Moore, associate dean of students. “It is one of my favorite Covenant events and I look forward to it every year. The fun, food, and fellowship bring joy to all in attendance. To me, witnessing so many students, staff, and faculty celebrating their cultures in various ways is a reflection of Revelation 5:9: ‘And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”’”
