Day of Prayer
The Covenant community will observe its bi-annual Day of Prayer on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Day classes will be suspended to allow students, faculty, and staff the time to gather as a community to pray.
The theme for the fall Day of Prayer is Psalm 77:19.
“Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.” Psalm 77:19 (ESV)
Chaplain Grant Lowe describes the theme verse for Day of Prayer as a reminder to all of us that God is working, even when He seems hidden.
“When sun shines and life is peaceful, seeing the Lord's hand comes easily—or at least the absence of His hand does not crush us,” said Chaplain Grant Lowe. “But when darkness replaces the light and life pulses with fear, sickness, and anxiety, not seeing the Lord's hand can render us prostrate and hoping against hope that He is there. In the midst of our every circumstance, though, the living God, the creator of all things, our Heavenly Father, breathes for us, walks before us, and is forever acting on our behalf. Though His footprints may be unseen, it is He who leads us through the waters.”
Covenant’s Day of Prayer will begin with a sunrise service at the Rock City overlook, where the community will gather for a time of prayer, worship, and hot chocolate.
