The Broadway Project
On March 31 and April 1, 2011, the Musical Theatre Club and members of Covenant's music faculty will present The Broadway Project, an evening of selected orchestral music, song and dance from many of Broadway's masterpieces, including Fiddler on the Roof, Sweeney Todd, Rent, The Pajama Game, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Chorus Line, Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Lion King, and Into the Woods.
"In planning, it became evident that many of the seniors and rising seniors were excited about choosing selections from various Broadway masterpieces," says Associate Professor of Music Jeanell Brown. "By doing so, we were able to include a diversity of music never attempted in our past productions."
Joining the cast will be Covenant's chamber orchestra, directed by Mr. Lok Kim, and the company of Ballet Tennessee, directed by Mr. Barry VanCura.
Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Dora Maclellan Brown Memorial Chapel and are free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
