Jericho Brass & Chattanooga Clarinet Choir Concert
The Covenant College Department of Music will welcome the Jericho Brass and Chattanooga Clarinet Choir to the College for a concert on April 9, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in the Dora Maclellan Brown Memorial Chapel.
During the joint concert, known locally as the “Battle of Woodwinds & Brass,” the two ensembles will each perform separately for twenty minutes before joining to play Verdi’s La Forza Del Destino Overture and the Anchors Aweigh march together.
The Jericho Brass ensemble is a traditional British-style band that has operated in Chattanooga since 1998, and is currently under the leadership of Mr. Frank Hale. The Chattanooga Clarinet Choir was also founded in 1998, and is now directed by Covenant’s own Lok Kim, assistant professor of music.
“In Chattanooga, there are many different ensembles, which is such a blessing for the community,” said Kim. “I hope this time will be a great chance to get to know the ensembles in our own city. And also it will be very interesting for the audience to observe the many different sizes and timbres in one instrument family.”
The concert is free and all are welcome to attend.
