Psychology Student Maddie Sparks ’20 Wins Research Award
Psychology major Maddie Sparks ’20 won a Psi Chi Regional Research Award for her research "Effect of Teleological Bias on the Seductive Allure of Neuroscience" at the 2019 annual Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA) conference.
Sparks conducted this research at Covenant College in the fall of 2018 as an independent study under the supervision of Dr. Carole Yue, and she presented her research at this year’s SEPA conference, which took place in Jacksonville, FL, from March 20-23.
Sparks said, “This award was a huge confidence booster and encouragement. I’m not sure exactly what I want to do after Covenant, but winning a research award helped show me that I’m on the right track.”
She plans to continue her research this semester by replicating the study online with the addition of speed as an independent variable.
Eleven other psychology students presented at the conference. We are proud of each of these students’ accomplishments as psychology scholars and believers. Click here to learn more about the psychology department at Covenant College.
