2017 Alumni of the Year
Covenant College's 2017 Alumni of the Year awards were presented in chapel on November 20, 2017. The recipients are:
- The late Bob Harbert '78, Alumnus of the Year
- Enoch Elwell '10, Young Alumnus of the Year
- Beth Anderson Nedelisky '03, Volunteer of the Year
Alumnus Tim Mahla '07 was the guest speaker for the chapel service.
The Alumni of the Year awards provide an opportunity to highlight the good, redeeming work that God faithfully does in and through His people for His glory.
Bob Harbert '78, Alumnus of the Year
This award is presented to an alumnus or alumna who exemplifies the mission of Covenant College in his or her church, vocation, or community. This award was accepted by the family of Bob Harbert '78, who died on November 11, 2017, after battling pancreatic cancer. Bob spent his professional career in service to Covenant College and her students in many roles since graduating in 1978. Marked by integrity, kindness, compassion, and faithfulness, Bob devoted himself to the mission of Covenant by serving in many different capacities over 35 years, from teaching classes to working in the physical plant to serving as the vice president of finance and administration and, most recently, working in the accounting office.
Enoch Elwell '10, Young Alumnus of the Year
This award is presented to an alumnus or alumna who graduated within the past ten years and who exemplifies the mission of Covenant College in his or her church, vocation, or community. Enoch Elwell '10 is the founder of CO.STARTERS and a co-founder of The Company Lab. He played a key role in accelerating the renaissance of Chattanooga by accelerating a community of support for both startups and entrepreneurs. Driven by a passion to help others, Enoch supports hundreds of emerging startup communities through the CO.STARTERS platform, building a thriving culture of collaborative support in their community.
Beth Anderson Nedelisky '03, Volunteer of the Year
This award is presented to an alumnus or alumna who is devoted to serving the Covenant community through giving sacrificially of their time, energy, talents, and resources to represent and advance the mission of Covenant College. Beth’s love for Covenant is evident in her investment in the College through giving of her time and expertise as an advisor to the Board of Trustees, having previously served for two terms and now serving for a third term. Beth has served as a member of the Joint Investment Committee of Covenant College and the Covenant College Foundation Endowments since 2015.
