Profs. Corbett & Fikkert Co-Author Helping Without Hurting in Short-Term Missions
The authors of the modern classic When Helping Hurts, Covenant College professors Steve Corbett and Dr. Brian Fikkert, have released new resources for groups interested in short-term missions, titled Helping Without Hurting in Short-Term Missions. Covenant alumna Katie Casselberry ’10 also contributed to the resources, which include a leader’s guide and a participant’s guide.
Applying the principles of When Helping Hurts to the short-term mission field, Corbett, Fikkert, and Casselberry have developed a digestible eight-unit curriculum to aid both leaders and participants in developing short-term mission trips and projects that help rather than hurt.
Using the power of story along with empirical research, Helping Without Hurting in Short-Term Missions allows team members and leaders to follow along with online video lessons and facilitates discussion among team members.
Helping Without Hurting in Short-Term Missions will be useful for pastors, youth leaders, mission directors, and others interested in a thoughtful approach to short-term missions. The participant’s guide and leader’s guide are both available for sale through Amazon.
