Music Department Presents Ensembles in Concert

The department of music at Covenant College will present a concert on Thursday, December 4, 2014, featuring the work of several musical ensembles.

 

Under the direction of adjunct professor Joel Land, Covenant’s Jazz Ensemble will present pieces by Herbie Hancock, Jerome Kern, and Oscar Hammerstein, along with a rendition of It Came upon the Midnight Clear and a piece composed by Prof. Land.

 

The Brass Ensemble, directed by adjunct professor David Long, will offer music from composers Jean-Joseph Mouret, Vaclav Nelhybel, and Pierre Passereau. The ensemble consists of traditional brass instruments: trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba.

 

Adjunct professor Stephen Humphries will direct the Percussion Ensemble in works by J.S. Bach, Josh Gottry, and Nils Rowher, along with a rendition of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, arranged by Prof. Humphries. 

 

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Dora Maclellan Brown Memorial Chapel, and is free and open to the public.
