From Courts to Creative Director at Duke: Kiaira Cooper ’14

Kiaira Cooper

From Covenant’s basketball courts to creative directing for basketball at Duke, Kiaira Talia Cooper has combined her love for sports and her art degree to showcase her God-given creativity and talent in storytelling. A 2014 Covenant grad, Kiaira has worked in various positions including as director of creative video at The University of California Berkeley, but she has recently stepped into the position of creative director for Duke Women’s Basketball. Kiaira has enjoyed authentically and strategically creating content and advocating for underrepresented people groups, specifically female athletes and racial minority groups.

As a steward of the stories of those around her, Kiaira doesn’t shy away from the good, the bad, or the ugly of their experiences but hopes to open the viewers’ eyes to the lives of the subject. She works to faithfully serve her peers and share in their experiences while also empowering others to see the unique nature and beauty of each person’s story.

Hear from Kiaira:

“I love being close to the sport of basketball and being able to tell the story of the women I am around. God has given me a particular gift and has opened doors for me to be in this world. Being faithful is understanding and believing that God has put me here for a purpose and on purpose. He has created all of us to be creative. It is such an honor to show people how great someone’s story is.”
