Arts Administration Certificate

Combining artistic ability and organizational leadership within a framework of stewardship, intercultural sensitivity, and arts advocacy, the Arts Administration Certificate at Covenant College equips students to lead both non-profit and for-profit arts organizations in a variety of capacities.

Program Overview

The quality of the certificate will be ensured under the direction of faculty in the departments of Art, Music, and Theater. By partnering each student with two different area arts organizations, students will be prepared to serve in an even larger number of contexts. Chattanooga houses a symphony, art museum, large community theatre, multiple granting/philanthropy organizations, and is more than capable of helping prepare our students for artistic administration.

Aside from numerous graduate programs in the field, a certificate in arts administration can translate directly into job opportunities. A Covenant education, with its emphasis on interdisciplinary study, will be focused through the lens of the Arts Administration Certificate, helping graduates think critically and creatively when solving the challenges facing arts organizations. They will gain applicable skills and real-world experience that will translate to job opportunities across the world.

quotation mark
Artists cannot do their work without the support of others; in my experience, I would not have made much of my work without the advocacy of people and the generosity of organizations who believed deeply about my art and my artistic voice. It mattered to them. Many of my peers would say the same thing..
